About this event
Organised by the Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ), this 5K Road Race is intended to engage the shipping industry in an activity that promotes wellness and boosts the impact of our Corporate Social Responsibility projects within the various charities in the communities in which we operate.
A percentage of the funds raised from the event will go towards schools we support in the district, including the Tavares Gardens Primary School and the Marcus Garvey School, as well as the Association’s Mobile Clinic. The SAJ supports activities at Tavares Gardens, pays teacher salaries at Marcus Garvey for 8 months of the year and contributes to a feeding programme for students on a monthly basis. The Mobile Clinic is stationed in various communities at different times throughout the year and medical services are provided to residents free of cost.
This one-of-a-kind race is open to all runners and walkers who want to experience a delightful out-and-back 5K route in the important business district of Newport West and Marcus Garvey Drive.
ROUTE
The race is a flat out-and-back 5K which starts on Second Street, Newport West, then takes participants onto Marcus Garvey Drive and back to Fourth Avenue, Newport West.
REGISTRATION
Registration is open to all individuals and teams (corporate, clubs, church groups) up to the deadline on Wednesday, June 24, 2015.
Entry Fee: Individuals and teams of less than 50 persons - $1,000 per person. Teams of 50 or more persons - $800 per person. Entries are neither refundable nor transferable, and name changes are not allowed.

TIMING & AWARDS
The race will be chip-timed using our MyLaps chip timing system, and awards will be presented immediately after.

PACKET PICK-UP
Race packets must be collected before race day on Thursday to Friday, June 25 - 26 from 11:00am to 6:00pm at Running Events Limited, 87-89 Tower Street, Kingston. THERE IS NO NUMBER PICK-UP ON RACE DAY.
Your bib number will be labelled with your name and marked for the event you entered. The bib is to be pinned to the front of your shirt. You must wear the bib number assigned to you. Switching of race events is NOT allowed once race registration is closed. Entrants in the Run event can Run and Walk. However, the Walk race is for Walkers Only.
Each participant is responsible for knowing and complying with all the official rules and regulations. Failure to comply with the rules of the event will subject you to disqualification.
