‘Emanci-Fest Celebration’ in collaboration with the Sligoville Heritage Foundation

TrainFit Club invites you to be part of its dynamic running group "Come Run B4 The Sun"! 

Join us as we build fitness levels and stamina. Our training is also geared toward prepping for organized road races and includes resistance workouts (in the sands, the hills etc.)

We meet in Kingston on Tuesdays at 6:30pm and Fridays at 4:30am for a road run (locations and routes are announced each week). Warm up/cool down with the team and be energized! 

Participation is open to all fitness levels. Drop in for $400 or ask about our membership rates. Fees include coordinator/instructors, route escort, bottled water, secured parking, registration and bib collection for road races, sands training and more!

Emancipation Watch Night Vigil & Celebration of Drums Ceremony

Venue: Seville Heritage Park, St. Ann's Bay
This is an annual event that is staged by the National Heritage Trust with assistance from the JCDC, at the historic Seville Heritage Park in St. Ann’s Bay. It features displays and performances by the various traditional folk groups as well as popular artistes. All this is done to the back drop of traditional foods and crafts. The Emancipation proclamation is read at midnight and the event continues into the early hours of August 1 – Emancipation Day. This is a paid event

Venue: All Parishes Island-wide
Across the length and breadth of the island, on the eve of Emancipation Day, vigils will be held in commemoration of the emancipation from slavery. The JCDC working in collaboration with the respective Ministers’ Fraternity in each parish, will stage a parish vigil in each parish capital. The programme features performances primarily from traditional folk groups followed by a religious services which culminates in the symbolic reading of the Emancipation Proclamation at midnight by the Custos of the parish.
