When the Peter Tosh Museum officially opens its doors, Jamaicans and visitors from around the world will be able to see a large collection of never-before-seen Tosh memorabilia, as some of the treasures will be displayed to the public for the first time. Visitors will also be able to relive aspects of the non-conformist, futuristic and abundantly creative Tosh experience through sizzling audio and video recordings featuring the superstar, as well as iconic artifacts including his M16 guitar and beloved unicycle that became one of his favorite means of transportation. Also available will be exclusive merchandise for sale to the public.

Peter Tosh Museum Launch

The Digicel Imagine 5K on Saturday, October 22, 2016 will again shine a light on our Special Needs community as thousands of Extraordinary Jamaicans will take to the streets to race through downtown Kingston. Starting at 7:00pm, this first-ever night run sets in motion an electrifying evening of fun and live entertainment - all with a goal to raise funds and increase awareness for Special Needs.

With a record-breaking 10,000 entrants supporting the event last year, Digicel was able to raise $8.4m, which went towards 12 special needs institutions. The beneficiaries were the Jamaica Autism Support Association, Jamaica Association on Intellectual Disabilities (JAID), Jamaica Association for the Deaf, Jamaica Society for the Blind, Jamaica Down's Syndrome Foundation, Special Olympics Jamaica, STEP Centre, Mustard Seed Communities - Jacob's Ladder, Early Stimulation Plus, NAZ Children's Centre, Genesis Academy, and Liberty Academy.

The Fun Zones are back for the second year and will be expanded to include more ridiculously silly diversions along the race route. 

Featuring MYLAPS BibTag Timing, participants will be treated to premium runner care and special post-race activities.

The special edition, dubbed “To Bird with love”, is being staged to raise funds to assist the veteran drummer with the staggering financial challenges that he is facing in the aftermath of his recent near-fatal heart attack.

During his 36-year career, “Bird” has played for Bare Essentials, the Mighty Diamonds, the Marleys, Shaggy, the late John Holt, Yellow Man, Sean Paul, Freddie McGregor, Marcia Griffiths, Ernie Smith, and many more celebrated artistes. On the home front, in addition to being the featured drummer on major shows, “Bird” is a familiar and welcome performer at several venues, such as
Jo Jo’s Jerk Pit and Jacob’s Place.

Gates will open at 6.30 on Saturday, 22 October and showtime will at 8.00 p.m. sharp. Food and drink will be on sale. As always, complimentary parking and shuttle service will be available from the nearby Tyre Warehouse.

The artiste line-up, which will include artistes with whom “Bird” has collaborated over the years, will be announced in the coming weeks.
